Development centres are one of the most comprehensive methods for assessing your employees, and are useful in a number of circumstances including:
Training needs / gap analysis
Before a development programme
During internal promotion / succession planning
Prior to organisational restructuring
A development centre consists of a series of exercises such as interviews, group discussions, role plays, fact-finds, analysis and presentations that simulate the activities an employee would undertake in their job role. During these activities, employees’ performance is measured by trained assessors against pre-defined criteria, such as a competency framework.
Although the process can be intense for employees, they benefit from an individual action plan that provides focus and enables acceleration of their development.
